We developed a special fiberglass grate solution for the main sewage pumping station of Tallinna Vesi. The solution was determined by the fact that this room is also intended to be used as a puffer tank during high water, meaning that the tank can also fill with water. Since a single-piece closed grate can simply be lifted by water from the openings and a maintenance worker can fall in. To prevent this from happening, we installed a regular grate and 3mm fiberglass laminate covers on top of it, which can float off if necessary, but the grate remains in place. The need for the grates to be closed required ventilation of the room so that no odors could come from underneath.
In addition to these, we also installed FRP closed gratings on the maintenance platform and maintenance holes in the floor.
